BREAKING - Bethalto resident charged with multiple sex crimes
Amy Bryant, 43, faces six felonies
Amy L. Bryant, 43, of Bethalto, was charged with six felonies related to alleged sexual abuse, potentially ranging from Oct. 1, 2023, through April 15, 2025.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Bryant with the following:
Five counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (a Class 1 Felony) — Bryant is accused of committing an act of sexual penetration with a child, who is currently 16.
Grooming (a Class 4 Felony) — Bryant is accused of “knowingly using a computer online service, internet service, local bulletin board service, or any other device capable of electronic data storage or transmission,” specifically the app Snapchat, to “seduce, solicit, lure, or entice, or attempt to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice, a child… for the purpose of engaging in any unlawful sexual conduct with a child or with another person believed by the defendant to be a child.” Bryant is accused of cultivating a sexual relationship with a child, who is currently 16, through Snapchat for sexual penetration.
I was tipped off to this story last week, and am currently following multiple leads. Due to the nature of it and the age of the victim, I will limit the sharing of future information that may cause further harm to this child. However, I will update it further if warranted.
Remember, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, no matter how heinous the crime, and even then, it all depends on how much you trust the criminal justice system. I hope that in this case, it works to get justice for the child involved.
